I would have got ridicule and a beating for telling my parents to get out of their own home. So I kind of did a double take at that. What a boon it must be to grow up with parents who think things through before reacting.

I've been wondering how the events of the last couple of months have been affecting you.

[Sorry for the delayed reply. I responded on my phone, but only just now realized that the comment failed to post.]

To be fair to Skylar, she does ask nicely most of the time. Or at least with a wink. And she knows that her mom usually wants to go to the gym or jogging and that I have to care for my parents every few hours. So it's more a case of her taking charge of when we leave the house, since we're going to be doing it anyway.

The months leading up to the death of Kim's dad were very hard. And the death was incredibly difficult, both because he lived so close to us and was such a factor in our daily lives and because Kim's mom was at her absolute worst most of the time. I understand that she was stressed out and grieving in advance, but that doesn't make it any less awful.

Even now, nearly a month later, I'm exhausted and still feeling the residual stress.
